Description

A self-taught ceramic artist, Anupama Pant spent the lockdown in quiet contemplation and subsequent creative expression of these observations through her favourite medium – clay. A material that gave her sanity when the world was struggling with new vocabulary.

This is a collection derived from multiple nuances of the lockdown that was – some – which all of us have adopted in our daily lives even now and some feel like not-so-distant strange memories of stranger times.

Anupama usually practises on the wheel, but since everyone was facing many restrictions on many levels and lifestyles, she imposed this restriction on herself and wanted to create beyond the wheel. All works are created using rolled slabs, pinching and coiling, which also gives all the pieces soft edges. Being sensitive to the subject and the tough times, the absence of sharp edges ties the collection in a mellow, muted undertone – symbolic in a way?
